Great Horkesley Manor is part of ; an organisation dedicated to caring for the elderly.

Great Horkesley Manor was established in 1990 as a private, luxury Residential Care Home for the Elderly on the site of a 19th Century farmhouse. We incorporated the old farmhouse into the Care Home, using former reception rooms as spacious and elegant lounges. Although much of Great Horkesley Manor is modern, purpose built and at ground level, it retains a traditional farmhouse charm and welcoming ambiance. After eleven successful years the Matron and Staff have built an enviable reputation for excellence and high quality care.

Location
We are located close to Colchester Town on the Essex/Suffolk borders, in the village of Great Horkesley, the Manor is set back 100m from the A134 Colchester to Sudbury Road, in 50 acres of private gardens and farmland. Great Horkesley Manor is on the edge of Colchester and only a few minutes drive from the beautiful Dedham Vale and Constable Country. We have access to all the modern and convenient amenities of Colchester Town whilst enjoying the setting and landscape of a small village. Great Horkesley is a thriving village with two public houses, a school, a post office, a large general store and independent fine wine shop.

Care Available
Great Horkesley Manor provides 24-hour care for all of our residents. We offer convalescence care; after surgery or illness, respite care; for those that may need a break or a holiday, as well as permanent care for the elderly. Paramount to our philosophy as a Home is that we endeavour to provide all of our permanent residents with A HOME FOR LIFE.

The Matron
We have a wonderful and capable Matron, Mrs. Nuala Frost, RGN, RMN and NVQ Assessor; she is a very experienced nurse and manager with a wide range of professional and workplace skills. Mrs Frost opened and commissioned Great Horkesley Manor in 1990.
