Introduction
- Villa
Scalabrini is a Roman Catholic Home open to people of all
denominations.
- It was
established to provide care mainly for Italian elderly, and
from the beginning the Italian Community has given its full
support to the project.
- The trustees
are the Scalabrini Fathers, Missionaries for migrants, and
the Home is supported by The Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy
who assist the management in all the activities at the Home.
- Villa
Scalabrini was opened in July 1986 and can accommodate 53
elderly residents. This includes 10 places for non-Italian
residents.
- It is
registered with Hertfordshire County Council Cert. No 146/273/98
under the terms of the National Care Standard Commission.
- Villa
Scalabrini is a large detached building standing in approximately
25 acres of grounds, much of which is accessible to residents
though attractive walkways, patios and gardens.
- There
is an internal chapel and an external grotto which is located
in the vast gardens.
